Snow Leopard on Hackintosh Second Method

In a couple of previous posts I mentioned having problems with my original Snow Leopard hackintosh install. Most appeared to be related to permissions, with certain settings reverting after a reboot. For example, I change the background colour of my finder windows to grey instead of white, and every time I restarted this would change back to white again. I also always got a few unrepairable permissions errors when using Disk Utility’s repair function. Nothing major, and while everything important worked fine there were enough minor irritations to start me looking at an alternative install method. Read more…

Ubuntu 8.10 on USB flash

One of the features offered as part of the latest Ubuntu release is installation to a USB flash drive. This is a menu option from the Live CD in 8.10, under System>Administration. The ability to use a flash drive has been around in various forms for a while now, but as an occasional Linux user I haven’t seen it offered in this easy a package.

10.5.4 for hackintosh update

Hackintosh installers for 10.5.4 have started to appear in the past few days, ATKOS v4i based on 10.5.4 is out. On the update front there’s a 10.5.4 AMD Combo package. These are available from the usual sources.
