Microsoft talks ‘Windows Cloud’

It looks like Microsoft is taking the idea of cloud computing seriously. Steve Ballmer yesterday announced that a new version of Windows will be launched at the end of October, currently titled ‘Windows Cloud’ with a final name to follow. Opinions from the web seem to differ on what the new OS will include, with reports ranging from an OS for Cloud developers to one based on Windows server with cloud services integrated. Google and Apple are already embracing the Cloud so it’s no surprise The Redmond Giant want a slice of the action.

Also mentioned by Ballmer was the existence of Midori, a research project looking to build the OS that may one day replace Windows.

I think that the “Windows Cloud” is a beta version of Midori and they will use it to make improvements when they release Midori sometime after 2009.

This is serious. Is “windows cloud” or whatever it’s final name would be, is somehow the starting of the non-windows era? Though it is called ‘windows’ I doubt it is. As microsoft has told it as a seperate project from windows 7. Thus seperate from windows OS stream I think.

Moreover all the news regarding ‘Midori’ stated that it will be a cloud computing OS. Google it, u will get the proof. Wait to see what’s real. ‘Windows Cloud’ is ‘Midori’ or not.
