iPhone version 2 software available now
Macrumors has the link to iPhone V2 software, obtained from Apple’s XML files which I’m guessing were part of iTunes 7.7 released this morning. The link is
for those who can’t wait a few more hours for the official release. This performs a complete erase of the iPhone before installing, but reports say iTunes offers to make a backup of the current contents before proceding. The new firmware is only compatible with the iPhone, some Macrumors forum posters have tried it with the iPod touch with no success.
This is release 5A347, a couple of versions on from the last 5A345 beta. No word on what changes were made between the two releases.
UPDATE The final release is now available through iTunes, and Mac Rumors is reporting it has the slightly changed name of iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw. No word yet on what’s different in this version.
